Penetrating the World of Business: Stooping Club Ethiopia's Chapter

Stooping Club Ethiopia has made significant contributions to communities across Ethiopia by redistributing donated electronics shipped from the United States to schools in need. Through this work, our branch has supported educational access in Ethiopia while also diverting usable items from landfill. 

As our work has continued to scale across the country, we have identified growing opportunities to expand our impact through business-focused initiatives aimed at empowering younger generations. In Ethiopia, opportunities for students to learn and practice business skills at an early age are limited, due to widespread financial inequities. Many high school students who do not pursue higher education often face long-term barriers to financial stability. To help address this gap, Stooping Club Ethiopia is now focusing on implementing business programs in high schools and educating students about financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

To begin translating this vision into action, on January 10th, Stooping Club Ethiopia hosted a tech-business hackathon in Addis Ababa in collaboration with Hack Club, Ethiopia Business Club, and the Gemini Ethiopia branch. The hackathon showcased the students' potential to design a business AI tool, demonstrating their ability to combine technical skills with emerging entrepreneurial knowledge. We engaged over 30 participants, with winning teams receiving prizes, while all attendees gained exposure to real-world applications of business AI tools across Ethiopian markets. This initiative marks an important step in Stooping Club Ethiopia’s broader vision to provide youth with the experience, confidence, and mindset needed to create opportunities for themselves and their communities. We plan to continue and expand this work through future business-focused programs and partnerships.

As we forge ahead, our commitment to empowering the youth of Ethiopia remains unwavering. We believe that by nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs, we can create a ripple effect that transforms not just individual lives, but the entire community. Together, we can equip our future leaders with the tools to turn dreams into reality. With every step we take, we are reminded that the future belongs to those who dare to innovate and inspire.
